Day 16 – Yerin Kim

1. What do you do for a living? (occupation/field of study)

I am a newly graduated registered nurse!

2. How do you like to spend your free time?

I love playing with my teacup/ toy poodle, Toast, and snuggling with him. I also love watching Korean dramas. Lastly, I love going to new places and trying new foods (I am a Yelp Elite)!

3. Share one interesting fact about you that most people don’t know!

I used to be a “track star” in high school and almost went to college as an athlete (I’m so glad I didn’t though). Also, I think most people know this, but in case you do not: I have a twin sister, Chaerin!

4. Do you have a favorite book in the Bible? If you do, which one is it and why?

I love the book of Romans and the book of Psalm. Romans really set the foundation of my faith especially in my college years— I always look back at this book to remind myself of the Gospel. Psalm is a collection of prayers and hymns with praises to God, but also cries of frustration to Him— I feel like reading this encourages me to call upon God’s name in whatever circumstance I am in.

5. Is there a verse/passage in the Bible that has significantly impacted your life? If so, which is it and why?

There are many, but one that I always come back to is Psalm 23: 1-4

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

6. Is there a prayer request that has been on your heart recently? If so, please share with us.

With many new changes in this season of my life, I pray that God will lead me and I may follow His leading.

7. Tell us about how you met Christ? (feel free to share a brief testimony)

I always remember my grandma to be a faithful follower of Christ. Growing up with her, I saw her singing hymns, reading the Bible, and praying to God every single day. Her lifestyle made me believe that God was a personal being. After she passed away, my mom came to know Christ and her former lifestyle was changed 180 degrees. Seeing how crazy this change was made my faith grow bigger and we started having family prayer nights. I think that this time in my life is when I truly gave up my life to God and knew that we can only rely on Him. I’ve had many more encounters with God after that, but it was in college that I learned how to take ownership of my own faith and spread the Good News to those who do not know. Today, I am not as fiery as I once was, but I am reminded of what God has done in my life and I am encouraged to not give up the vision He has given me!
