Day 10: Practicing Church

Daily Devotional

Ezekiel 36:27

27 “And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.”

We must remember that becoming a "practicing church" is not something that we do on our own. We need the Holy Spirit to empower us to live out our faith in a way that is pleasing to God and according to His will. We are reminded today of a powerful promise, that God has given us a new spirit and has put His Spirit within us. No longer do we rely on our our own strength or wisdom to live out our faith, but we adhere to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because God is with us, we are able to turn away from our own desires and put God's plans into action. Let us remember the promise of Ezekiel 36:27 and obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit so that we may see God accomplish His purposes through us today.

Weekly Application

As followers of Christ, it’s important not just to hear and know the Word of God, but to put it into practice in our daily lives. Start your day by asking the Holy Spirit to guide and direct you each day. As you set your mind on the things that the Holy Spirit wants, He will show you opportunities to put your faith into action. Live out your faith with at least one person each day this week by serving them and loving them as the Holy Spirit leads. You may be led to offer a listening ear to someone who is going through a tough season or to give a portion of your time or resources to someone in need. Have high expectations of what God can do, and ask Him to guide you each step of the way.
